Convert bank statement PDF to QBO
Drop the PDF below and download a .qbo file, the Web Connect format QuickBooks uses for bank downloads. The file follows the Intuit OFX 1.0.2 specification and includes an Intuit bank ID (INTU.BID), stable transaction IDs so re-importing the same period does not create duplicates, and the closing balance. Statements over 1,000 rows or 350 KB are split into several files automatically.
What QBO (Web Connect) is and where it imports
A QBO file is OFX 1.0.2 in SGML form with one Intuit-specific tag, INTU.BID, that tells QuickBooks which bank the file came from. QuickBooks checks that bank ID against Intuit's list, and an ID it does not recognise is the source of most QBO import errors you will find on forums.
Each transaction carries a FITID, a unique ID that QuickBooks uses to detect duplicates. We derive it from the date, amount and description of the row, so converting the same statement twice gives the same IDs and QuickBooks skips rows it already has.
A row where the parser could not read a date or an amount is left out of the QBO file and counted in a notice after download, because QuickBooks gives you no easy way to fix a broken line after import. Fill in the missing cell in the table and export again to include it.

How to import the file
QuickBooks Online
- Go to Transactions > Bank transactions (shown as Banking in some accounts). Depending on your QuickBooks version, choose Upload transactions, or open the Link account menu and pick Upload from file.
- Drag in the .qbo file and select the QuickBooks account it belongs to.
- Review the transactions in the For review tab and add or match them.
Common import errors
- QuickBooks says the bank is not supported or the file cannot be verified.
- The INTU.BID does not match a bank QuickBooks knows. If Intuit does not list your bank, it has no ID of its own, so enter the ID of a supported bank, such as 3000, in the export panel (the field appears when we have no ID for your bank), or keep our default, which is 3000. Then import again.
- Duplicates after importing an overlapping period.
- QuickBooks only skips duplicates with identical FITIDs. Export both periods from this converter rather than mixing files from different tools.
- Import stops on a very long statement.
- QuickBooks limits Web Connect files to about 1,000 transactions. Import the split files one after another, in order.

FAQ: QBO (Web Connect)
What is the difference between QBO and QFX?
Both are OFX 1.x with an Intuit header. QBO is read by QuickBooks, QFX by Quicken. This page makes QBO; for other money apps the OFX page is a better fit.
Does the QBO file work in QuickBooks Online too?
QuickBooks Online accepts QBO in its bank upload. If you would rather map columns yourself, the QuickBooks Online CSV export is an alternative.
Where do I find my bank’s Intuit bank ID?
If a QFX or QBO file downloaded from your bank exists, open it in a text editor and copy the number after INTU.BID. When we already know the ID for your bank it is filled in for you.
Can ChatGPT make a QBO file from my PDF?
It can write something that looks like OFX, but without a valid bank ID and stable transaction IDs QuickBooks may reject it or import duplicates, and you still have to verify the amounts. Here the rows are reconciled first, the file is built locally, and the bank ID and IDs follow the Intuit format.
Why were some rows left out of my QBO file?
The parser could not read a date or an amount on those lines. The export panel shows how many; fill in the missing cell in the table and download again to include them.
